Special Topics in Graphic Design

Study Abroad:

Seoul, South Korea

In the early Summer of 2024, I embarked on a Study Abroad trip to South Korea with nine other MDC students. In addition to the cultural and culinary experiences, we went with the educational goal of broadening our Graphic Design experience and knowledge. We focused on typography, iconography, and color theory. Below are some of the projects I finished along the way.

Mood Board

Before our trip, we were asked to put together a mood board for the overarching project of the trip. I set my goal as covering and documenting the local independent music scene. I was also going to contact my friends Annie Ko & Toby Hwang of the band Love X Stereo to interview and look at their process, but that didn’t come to fruition.

Here are some postcards I created with photos I took on the trip.

Bonus: Hwaseong Fortress Martial Arts Performance

무예24기 시범공연

During a visit to the city of Suwon, south of Seoul, we watched a demonstration of the 24 Martial Arts. I filmed it, adjusted the audio, and color corrected the footage.
