Petey Rave

Petey Rave is a Miami-based podcaster, streamer, content creator, editor, and producer who is the founder and creative core of Rabelly Productions. He has been hosting and producing podcasts for twelve years and studying Film, Television, and Digital Video Production at Miami Dade College for the last five years.

As a content creator, Petey has taught himself how to build a YouTube and Twitch presence under RabellyTV, leveraging both platforms to showcase his and his friends’ personalities, passions, and humor. Petey continued growing his skills for the next decade, starting with his humble beginnings. He hosted his first podcast using a plastic Rock Band mic accessory on his computer while recording himself and his cohost on Audacity.

Born October 13th to Cuban immigrant parents in Hialeah, FL, and raised in various places around Miami-Dade County, Petey grew up wanting to create and craft whichever way he could.

Petey’s passion for content creation germinated when he received a boombox for Christmas as a child. The boombox had a cassette tape deck and a built-in microphone. This sparked his inspiration for pretending to be the host of “Petey Radio.” His imaginary radio talk and music show featured music recorded from local radio intercut with talk segments, mainly consisting of terrible impressions of celebrities and cartoon characters.

He harbored this creative hunger until he discovered the world of podcasting, which began flourishing in the 2000s. He was inspired by the pioneering efforts of people like Leo Laporte, Kevin Rose, Jeff Cannata, Sarah Lane, and then-budding filmmaker Dan Trachtenberg.

Once he had an idea that felt right, he started producing and cohosting the Fanny Pack Wrestling Podcast with his close friend David J. Majors in 2013. This was their way of sharing their love of independent professional wrestling with those who had lapsed in their wrestling fandom. The penchant for expanding his and his friends’ horizons continued later that year with Record Breakers, a music podcast where they share albums like a book club. It is also a podcast that he continues to host to this day.

What started as primarily audio productions became video versions to leverage a presence on YouTube for discoverability. This sparked Petey's passion for video production and post-production. He began teaching himself video editing and trying different ways to produce and present his content.

When he discovered that Miami Dade College had a Film and Television program, he used his day job’s tuition reimbursement program to begin a new journey. After double-checking that he was no longer on academic probation and could come back to Miami Dade College, he started the adventure of being a film student.

With graduation looming and a world of creative possibilities in front of him, Petey hopes to make some magic wherever he may find himself contributing. Be it as an editor, producer, or host, he’s ready to tackle it all fearlessly.
